With 28 million members worldwide, Scouting is the world’s largest co-educational youth Movement offering opportunities for both sexes, people of different backgrounds and all faiths.
Scouting is active in 216 of the World’s 258 countries, that’s 23 more countries than the United Nations has member states!
In the UK Scouting provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for half a million people. Scouting is open to all young people aged 6 to 25 of every faith and background. There are also plenty of opportunities for adults to become involved as Leaders, Assistants or Administrators.
There are over 200 activities on offer from outdoor adventure to creative projects. Here are just a few:
sailing, kayaking, camping, hiking, drama, cooking, first aid, zorbing, community work, music, games, sports, festivals.
We aim to make our community the focus of many of our activities, whether it is taking part in the Remembrance Day Parade, collecting littler to make our environment cleaner or having a visit from local services such as our Community Police Officer. Our Community is at our heart!
All our leaders and helpers volunteer their time to support the young people of Whitworth. Volunteers donate as many hours as they like and cover a vast range of roles from working with young people to offering their particular expertise in accountancy, marketing or administration. Whatever time you have to offer and whatever role you would like to perform we would love to hear from you.
